In-Person Spinning Classes

While learning to hand-spin yarn through books or videos is definitely possible, there’s nothing quite like the experience of getting customised feedback and tips to help get your spinning journey off to the best start, or help you progress.

With a 15-year career in adult education, I can offer handspinning classes at beginner and intermediate levels, so if you’re interested in having me teach at your venue, please do contact me.

I have upcoming in-person spinning classes at the following venues:

John Arbon Textiles, South Molton

This year I’ll be teaching my tops-spinning class in which we explore a huge variety of different ways to spin blended tops to get different colour effects. Along the way participants will learn lots of tips and tricks for diameter control, spinning from the fold, chain plying and more, so it’s perfect for those who’d like to improve their spinning skills as well as achieving the colour effects they want in their yarn.

This class is part of the John Arbon Textiles Mill Open Weekend — two days of woolly fun and frolics in South Molton, North Devon. You can check out all the events on the programme here.

Make at 140, Ocean Studios, Plymouth

A view over Royal William Yard, Plymouth

I’m delighted to be able to offer classes at this incredible venue, located by the sea in the stunning Royal William Yard, Plymouth. The building was once part of a Royal Navy victualling yard and is now is a unique space for artists, creatives and makers. If you have time before or after the class, you can enjoy the waterfront views, shopping and cafe culture.

The classes are made possible by Lizzy and the team from Make At 140, who have a wonderful fabric shop in the same building. All bookings are done through them, so click the buttons below for more details on that class, along with dates and availability.
